Project Engineer

Summary

The Project Engineer is responsible for coordinating development activities to successfully launch new and existing projects into production. This responsibility includes close design for manufacturing collaboration with customers, vendors, and internal resources, to deliver projects from design conception through quoting, development, sampling, qualification, and finally production release. A strong background in tooling and scientific molding principles is critical, as is the ability to communicate technical requirements to customers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  2. Detailed collaboration with customers to discuss and refine project requirements, to offer design enhancements/alternatives, and to ensure project deliverables are satisfied.
  3. Identify part, mold, and automation costing variables for new projects.
  4. Cross-functional communication with sales, operations, production molding technicians, etc. concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods and quality results.
  5. Use of fill simulation software to optimize gate locations, part filling, venting, and ejection.
  6. Coordinate internal and external feedback with tooling resources to develop robust tool designs for production and ongoing maintenance.
  7. Review layout reports and drive any subsequent tooling adjustments to satisfy dimensional and capability requirements to warrant customer PPAP approval.
  8. Coordinate sample, layout, and submission activity within specified customer project lead-times.
  9. Manage tool repair, ECN, and refurbishment of customer assets. This includes procuring quotes, selecting vendors, and working closely with operations on timing and capacity constraints.
  10. Provide simulation, quote, and/or development support, including travel, to other Rosti facilities.
