Production Supervisor

Summary

Under the direction of the Molding Manager, the Shift Supervisor is responsible for directing and training a productive workforce to meet established production goals while maintaining schedules, safety objectives, quality objectives, and employee morale on assigned shift.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary at any time.

  1. Supervise and coordinate the employees and activities of the department/production function to ensure safety, quality, productivity, and housekeeping standards are met or exceeded.
  2. Perform downtime analysis and implement corrections to performance misses on their crew in Safety, Quality, and efficiency
  3. Develops open lines of communication to continually monitor employee attitudes and concerns and implements appropriate actions with input from Human Resources; Participate in all aspects of disciplinary actions, including verbal and written counseling notices.
  4. Foster and support a High-Performance Culture; help to build and promote a strong “Teamwork” environment in each individual work group.
  5. Manage employee timecards and time-off requests to ensure accurate adherence to the attendance policy, payroll, and adequate coverage.
  6. Own the overall performance of assigned area. Facilitate smooth handoffs between all shifts, identify and facilitate continuous improvement activity, participate and lead initiatives to meet plant level goals, work with Molding Manager to set appropriate staffing levels and staffing alignment.
  7. Maintain the quality as well as quantity of various manufactured parts so that they meet engineering specifications. Manage each work center to achieve the lowest level of scrap and rework possible; Respond to Nonconforming Reports and create Tool Tags as needed.
  8. Responsible for analyzing operating reports and taking necessary corrective action to effectively control all costs and expenses related to the department.
  9. Act as a technical resource to address and resolve inquiries and problems; analyze and resolve work problems and assist workers in solving work problems; Act as back-up to Technical Lead to include learning press and process operations.
  10. Ensure all established EHS (Environmental, Health and Safety) policies, procedure and behavior are practiced and encouraged. Responsible for hazard reporting, hazard reporting follow-up, safety investigations
