Automation Engineer

Summary

Under the direction of the Engineering Manager, the Automation Engineer works closely with our engineering and manufacturing teams to quote, develop, launch, and support PCI automation needs. This includes working closely with our vendors to design efficient and reliable systems that support PCI’s integrated, lean manufacturing principles. In addition, the Automation Engineer will continue to research and expand our automation capabilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Develop standard design and build practices that yield safe, reliable, and efficient automation systems in accordance with PCI’s integrated, lean operating environments.
2. Ensure all equipment is built, installed, and operated in compliance with governmental safety standards.
3. Effective cross-functional communication with management, sales, operations, engineering, production technicians, quality, etc. to ensure successful launch and continued operation of new and
   existing equipment.
4. Manage and develop outside vendors to optimize new equipment designs for production at PCI.
5. Coordinate vision system design, programming, integration, lighting, data export/management, etc.
6. Solicit quotes from outside vendors for new equipment and equipment modifications.
7. Research new technologies and recommend opportunities to continue to expand PCI capabilities and service offerings.
8. Support operations with manufacturing setup, trouble-shooting, brainstorming, etc.
9. Work closely with production technicians to identify and resolve root cause of issues with existing manufacturing equipment.
10. Knowledge of PLC programming preferred.
11. BSME degree preferred and 10 years experience with automation.
12. Communicate with all company employees in a positive, team-oriented manner.
13. Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations. Maintain departmental housekeeping and standards.
