(MILWAUKEE, WIS – March 2, 2015) Plastic Components, Inc., announced today that it has been named the recipient of Plastic News’ first-ever Sustained Excellence Award, in addition to being recognized as one of ten Best Places to Work in Plastics. The Sustained Excellence Award is open to past recipients of the Processor of the Year Award – a recognition that is only awarded to a company once. As a means of acknowledging past winners who deserve more recognition and have already proved their excellence in a lengthy process, the new award was created to award companies that display sustained excellence in innovative ways. Award criteria includes financial excellence, extraordinary new developments, and key employee contributions.
Plastic Components, Inc. was founded in 1989 in a 10,000 square ft. facility with 3 molding presses and a plan to build a “fully-automated” manufacturing facility as a low cost, world-class producer of small & medium sized plastic injection molding parts. The company has grown to include 3 facilities, totaling over 75,000 square ft., including a “lights-out” manufacturing facility that recently received a United States Process Patent. This fully automated facility has the capability of running 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and has produced 400,000,000 defect-free parts since its opening in 2011.
“We were incredibly honored to receive Plastic News’ Processor of the Year in 2008 and we are thrilled to have won the inaugural Plastics News’ Sustained Excellence Award this year. The receipt of this award validates our continued commitment to innovation and reinvestment within the company,” said Ryan Duffey, Vice President of Plastic Components, Inc. “We are also excited to have been named one of the Ten Best Places to Work within the Plastics Industry for the second straight year. This recognition and our company growth would not have been possible without the many contributions from our entire team.”
Best Companies Group leans on contributions from Plastics News’ editorial staff in the judging of the Sustained Excellence Award and solicits employee and management input via a detailed survey in order to gather data for the no-cost Best Places To Work award application. Employer responses count for 25% of the grading and employee feedback accounts for 75%. Firms are assessed based on subjects such as leadership and planning, corporate culture and communication, role satisfaction, work environment, training and development, pay and benefits and more.
About the Survey
The survey and awards program is designed to identify, recognize and honor the best employers and innovation in the plastics industry, benefiting the industry's economy, workforce and businesses. To be considered for this initial program, companies had to be a plastics processor, compounder, recycler or mold/toolmaker, and fulfill other specific eligibility requirements.
