Molding Process Technician
- Perform required tear-down, set-up and start-up of jobs according to established procedures and guidelines on various size injection molding machines and their associated auxiliary equipment.
- Implement and document changes to processing parameters to achieve part quality and cost requirements.
- Identify and initiate necessary tool and machinery maintenance.
- Recommend changes required to part design, tool design or equipment capability to achieve acceptable quality and cost requirements.
- Perform all necessary quality requirements as prescribed in the Process Quality Report.
- Perform selected preventative maintenance tasks on injection molding machines, tooling, and auxiliary equipment.
- Maintain proper housekeeping practices and mold storage requirements.
- Maintain requirements of monitoring systems to assure proper control and accountability.
- Participate and offer input to corrective and preventive action and continuous improvement projects.
Requirements
- Comprehensive knowledge and experience with thermal plastic and engineered resins used in injection molding.
- Comprehensive knowledge and experience with various types and sizes of injection molding machines to include mold set-up and processing.
- Experience in mold function and modifications required to achieve proper part requirements.
- Experience and ability to read part prints, determine critical part characteristics to assure proper processing and use an assortment of gages typical to part qualification.
- Experience and ability to use micro-processors and auxiliary personal computers.
- Experience and ability to perform basic mold and press maintenance and repair.
